6. What's the smartest way to compare any automotive or equipment part quote?

Three things: part number, fitment data, and total installed cost. In that order.

First, verify the part number against your vehicle's VIN or the original part's casting number. Third, think through the full cost: parts + labor + expected service life + the cost of failure.
